A Little Button Happy

Hi everyone!

Today I did a card for Monday Mania over at Club Anya. It's Sheng's turn this week and she decided on buttons! It also qualifies for Pixie Dust Studio's Cute as a Button challenge (yah yah yah) AND WT276 (Heat Embossing) at SCS.

I created an Easel Card, but incorporated the button theme. I have seen these Easel cards popping up all around blogs, so I had to give it a try - but I gave mine a little twist and made it a shape Easel Card. I used my Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot to create the base. Can you see the buttons?

I'm really happy with the results. First I did a faux leather look on some of the card stock. It came out better than I expected. I added a close up below so you can see the faux leather up close.

It's actually pretty easy. I copied down the steps in case anyone was interested in reproducing it.

1. Start with a brown piece of card stock

2. Emboss it with the Mosaic Embossing folder

3. Use Tim Holtz Distressing in any of the browns and distress it randomly over the entire piece. Darker in some spots and lighter in others.

4. Rub the entire surface with a Versamark clear embossing ink pad. Do not press too hard as you just want to cover the raised portions and not the lower parts inbetween.

5. Cover it with clear embossing powder tapping excess off. Again look to make sure the embossing powder is on the raised pieces only.

6. Heat with a heat gun

Viola - Instant faux leather :)

As I mentioned earlier, I stuck with the challenge to use buttons, I hope you can see the pretty flower buttons I used :) I also paper pieced Anya's outfit with a bandanna pattern and blue jean patterned designer paper.

I have to say this is one of the best cards I have ever made from pre-planning. So many times I get a thought in my head to make a card, but when I sit down to do it - it doesn't work out. This card came out so much better than I pictured it in my head when planning, and that usually never happens lol.

I hope you guys like it. Thanks so much for your visit!

Sketchy Saturday and a lil Soccer

Hi Everyone,

My Latest card is for the Club Anya's Sketchy Saturday. I'm on a roll with the Anya stamps :) Actually I have family visiting starting tomorrow, and I won't be free again to make a card til next week :( PURE SADNESS, so I rushed this last one in while I still had the time.

Isn't she just the cutest of all cute!? This is actually an Anya Digital stamp, and I shrank her a lil cuz I wanted it to look like she was standing on one of the soccer balls. I love how versatile the Digi's are. Here is the Sketch I followed created by Pam over at Club Anya. As soon as I seen it, the Soccer balls just popped in my head lol.

Hope you guys like it and Thanks so much for stopping by.

Christmas in July ! and first time ever using a Sewing Machine

Hi everyone!

The first part of my post is a BIG BIG thank you to KelliJo over at SCS. I currently collect Anya stamps from the Greeting Farm, and the only stamp I did not have is the Elf Anya. I wasn't stamping when it first came out, and I was in NY caring for a very sick Mom who was recovering from surgery when it was re-released for Christmas of 2009. I missed it both times, and I was sure I would never see this beauty in my stamp collection ever. Out of pure desperation (haha) I posted on SCS, and KelliJo sent me the stamp and asked for nothing in return. How amazing is that!!!! It seriously brought tears to my eyes. The kindness involved in an act like this is beyond words. So I had to ink it up right away. With it being the 4th I was too busy with family - so I have been wanting so badly to use it, and I finally did today - YAY for me :)

Today the card I created for Farm Fresh Friday at the Greeting Farms :) The challenge this week is to SEW..akkkk. For those of you that know my Cards, also know that I do not Sew - not even a little bit lol. I understand the challenge says you can faux sew, but it got me thinking. I purchased a sewing machine about a year ago, but I haven't ever used it. I also have NEVER used a sewing machine in my life before. Well this challenge got me pretty determined to try and so after several hours of wrestling with my new machine lol - I did!!!

Here is my first sewing card, and the first time I have ever used a sewing machine in my life...

I think it came out incredible for my first time ever sewing, and I have been walking around beaming about it all day LOL!!!

Hope ou guess enjoyed this one :) Thank you so much for visiting and sharing in my very proud moment!

First Ever Anya/Ian Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the first offical Blog hop for Anya and Ian (The Greeting Farm/Club Anya). If by chance you are not familiar with these two, head on over to THIS LINK and check these cuties out. New stamps will be released this evening at 10PM CST after the Hop. You are not going to wanna miss the new stamps out of Anya and Ian...THEY ARE TO DIE FOR lol.

If you weren't aware of the hop and would like to see the other wonderful and talented participants invloved, please head on over to Club Anya and there will be a list of all the blog hop participants that you can follow. This way you can start at the beginning and not miss any of the amazing talents that will be on display!

I myself am new to Anya's/Ian's, and truthfully stamping in general lol. I just started stamping in February of this year, never touched a stamp prior to that point (wow I was missing a lot lol). I have to say this line is one of my fav of all stamps. I know many of you feel the same. So, without further ado here is what I created for todays Hop....

I love Princess Anya the most! She is so pretty and she sure does sparkle lol. I stayed with a simple layout, as I wanted her to be the focal point on this card.

Some details on the card:
- She was colored with Prismacolor Pencils and Oderless Mineral Spirits.
- The sentimanet is chipboard which I painted white then stamped with 'you simply sparkle' (from the spunky princess set/Unity) and heat embossed it with clear EP. It looks so sparkly up close, hard to tell in the photo.
-I added a lil bling to her crown and wand. Both have Sugar Coating (aka glitter) from Doodlebug Designs on it. BLING BLING :) We had to make her a REAL princess and a real princess has Bling lol.
- I sponged around her with Momento Dew Drop Ink to make her 'glow'.
- I finally added a clip to hold on the sentiment tag. I have been obssesed with these clips lately, so don't be suprised to see them on a lot more of my designs this week. It's the 'IN' item for me this week lol. Here is a close up of all the details.....

Thank you so much for stoping by my blog today, I always love new and returning guests. I was honored to be part of this Hop this evening. Please feel free to leave a comment (I'm new so I need friends ..hehehehe - teasing). I love comments cuz I love to hear what you all think! Have a great day and enjoy the rest of your hop!

Birthday Fishes :)

I made this card for a challenge at The Greeting Farm...called DON'T BE SQUARE lol. You had to make a card that was anything but square or rectangular....here is my creation:

I had a blast making this, but I have to say it was REALLY outside of my comfort zone lol. The shell card I sketched in Inkskape and then imported to my Cricut to cut. I used kraft paper for the bottom so it would look like sand. I added orange twine cord to create a shell look. I also colored this pretty Anya with my Copics (also outside my comfort zone since it a first time not using my Prismacolor Pencils). I only own 18 markers so for the limitations I love how it came out. It's hard to see in the photo but her hair and lashes have shimmer, it looks so cute in real life. Here's a close up - maybe you can see:

I used my Nesties to cut the circles and the scallop circle. I also used my cuttlebug to emboss the outer scallep circle which you can see in the close up pic above. I used tiny pearls that I found in my stash for her hair and the sentiment. I hand cut the seweed (my favorite part of the card lol). This is probably the most time I have ever spent on a card. Let me know what you think ...thanks for visiting!

Welcome Home Anya

I had a great time making this card and I love the Anya stamps. This is the Dorothy Digi Stamp. At first I wasn't sure I would like Digi Stamps but....*drum roll* lol..... I LOVE IT!!! It was so easy to use. I love that you can size them and make multiple prints over and over. It was fun to use and you will see more Digi Anya creations in the future here as I purchased all of them lol.

This card was created for Sketch Challenge #2 over at Club Anya :) - There's a contest for new stamps as the grand prize - how fun is that!!!

This card also reminds me of my sister. We welcomed her into our home when she was 12 years old. It was threw Foster Care......today she is 21. When she first arrived she seemed so lost and she found her way 'home' to us. She was so cute when she arrived and it so reminded me of this Anya Image. This card has very special meaning to me. Hope you all likey!

I love how cute she is!!! I placed toto in the flower ...thought he would look extra cute on the flower.

She was colored with Prisma color Pencils and Oderless Mineral Spirits :) I used mostly The Paper Studio for the CS and the buttons. The iridescent flowers were purchased at Scrappin It (LSS) in a bargin bin. I used a Red Atyou Spica glitter pen on her shoes - Very sparkly ....Thanks for looking~*hugz* all :)
